Greetings! My name is Anawanitia Petty, and my friends call me Tia. I am an artist, guitar player and author.

Artist Statement

In a Catholic church, a sister took me from the pew and placed me into a small room. I was four years old and asking too many questions. She put a smock on me and placed me in front of an easel that had a fresh roll of paper. There were three paint colors: red, yellow and green. I had asked her if there was a blue for painting the sky. She simply walked away and shut the door as though sealing my fate. It was right then I knew I wanted to be an artist more than anything in the world, and that feeling never left.
